Under 13 Langwarrin Whites v Westernport

Langwarrin Whites U13 7-1 Westernport U13

It was a magnificent seven Sunday for Langy, moving up to seventh in the table with an emphatic 7-1 victory over Westernport.

It was all pressure from the Blues in the first half as Westernport were pinned back in their own half for most of the first period. Despite the dominance, Langy couldn’t seem to find the net, passing up a number of chances.

As half-time approached the deadlock was broken as some good right to left switching split the visitors' defence and Caitlin popped up to put the home side in front.

Moments later a defensive mix up in the home box allowed Westernport to make it one each. It was their first shot at goal, and keeper Josh got his first touch of the ball by picking it out of the net.

Direct from the restart Holly picked up a loose ball and restored the lead, and we went into the break with Langy 2-1 up.

As the second half got going Caitlin got in the way of a slack clearance in the visitors' box and deflected it in for her second goal to make it 3-1.

Minutes later it was 4, Holly made a challenge on the edge of the visitors’ box and her high looping kick sailed way over the heads of every on a dropped in under the crossbar to grab her second.

It was a question of 'how many'. In the final ten minutes, Grace battled hard to create her opportunity and it was 5-1.

Langy’s two wide players Alex and Christian had created so much for the strikers and now it was their turn to join the scoresheet. Alex drifted in from the right and hammered in a sixth, and moments later he was the provider for Christian who showed neat control in a crowded box to finish the scoring with number seven.
