After a good win at home the previous week against Pakenham the boys travelled to Berwick to play Berwick City on ANZAC Day. A quick start and after 2 minutes Ryan Skidmore scored to make it 1-0. The pitch was huge and it didn’t take long before the game opened up. Berwick got an equaliser with 18 minutes on the clock but Langwarrin bounced back again and took a 2-1 lead with Skidmore again finding the net. The game had breaks both ways with James Sperandio and Braedyn Hamilton combining well on the right and causing danger every time they worked the ball forward. Chances fell to a few players but they found the keeper on a few occasions rather than the net. Berwick also had some chances but David Lennox in goal was keeping them at bay. A few minutes before half time and Berwick got the equaliser to make it 2-2 at the break.
If anything, after the break Langwarrin looked the better side and came forward without finding the opening. A break though and Berwick scored to make it 3-2. After that point Langwarrin kept coming looking for the equaliser and good efforts by Cristian Sperandio, Be (Le Nhat Nguyen Phan), Skidmore and Ashton Lewis running from the back, all went unrewarded. Finally the boys ran out of steam and two late goals making it a 5-2 win for Berwick where as is the case often in football the score did not reflect the match. A draw would have been a fitting result but the boys will be ready to go again next week.
