NPL has no impact on existing Community players at Langwarrin
Posted: 31 October, 2017
There are some strange and disturbing rumours going around that relate to our Community teams (Juniors U6-U11, Girls and women’s and Bayside).
We posted this in September but thought that we had better post it again.
We would like to reassure everyone in the U11s and below, our girls teams, women’s team and Bayside teams that there will be NO impact as a result of us gaining NPL promotion. On the contrary, we will probably see an increased focus on coaching education that means that these teams will have an improved experience in 2018.
Boys in the age groups U12-U18 will need to attend trails for their places in those teams.
Our reserve team will become U20s.
We want to retain as many of our existing members as possible so we will work hard to make that possible.

Remaining Under 12's coach appointed for NPL 2018 season
Posted: 6 October, 2017
Langwarrin Soccer Club would like to announce the appointment of our remaining under 12’s head coach. Mitchell Ball will be joining our coaching team for NPL 2018, with an impressive amount of experience for a coach who is relatively so young. Mitchell holds an AFC C senior licence.
For the last 3 and a half years Mitchell has been coaching at Absolute Soccer. Working under the guidance of Nathan Peel, he has been working with younger players, developing their skill base. This dovetails perfectly into the Under 12 role at Langwarrin, where the focus will be on skill acquisition.
Mitchell has travelled extensively to develop his coaching, spending time at Stoke City, Burnley and Blackpool FC’s junior academies. He has a thirst for knowledge. Mitchell has coached junior football at Peninsula Strikers and Skye United, and also coached school football at Patterson River Secondary College.
2017 saw Mitchell move into the NPL, taking an assistant coach’s role at Bulleen FC’s under 16’s team. A successful season culminated in Mitchell touring Spain and Italy with Bulleen FC. Mitchell is still in Europe on the tour, but will be heading home shortly to join us.
Technical director Stephen Fisher commented “I’m really excited about the appointment of Mitchell. He’s had a solid apprenticeship under Nathan Peel, who I consider to be one of the best in the business. His season in the NPL environment will stand him in good stead for his role in 2018. He will do an outstanding job.”
We look forward to welcoming him to Langwarrin SC upon his return.

Over the last 3 years he has been coaching at a junior level at Mornington SC developing a team who became this year’s Victorian State Champions and winning the U14 Kangaroos league by 9 points.
One of Doug’s greatest highlights was having the honour of being asked by Langwarrin SC president Steve Wallace to open the new clubrooms at Lawton Park in 1997. To this day that holds a very special place in his heart.
Doug stated “I cannot wait to join Stephen Fisher and his team at such an exciting time. I am really looking forward to being a part of the next chapter of the Langwarrin Soccer Club”.
